Rejoice! Facebook Page Notifications Have Arrived!

Over the past few weeks, Facebook has been working very hard to make some cool updates – both to your personal profile and to pages. First, the personal – secure pages, ensuring a safer Facebooking experience. It’s something everyone has and creates secure browsing using https so that your information is safe while surfing your news feed. In addition, the extra security can alert you when a new computer logs on to your account. To protect your information go into your “account settings” and scroll down to “account security” checking both boxes for https and log in alerts.

The other great thing Facebook just rolled out is improved pages. Getting an updated layout and several new features, the new pages will help you engage with fans by allowing:

  • Notifications when fans interact with your page or posts
  • A place to showcase photos along the top of your page
  • A news feed for your page
  • The ability to Like and post on other pages as your page

When you preview your page you’ll be given the option to upgrade early or all pages will automatically be upgraded on March 10.

Social Media Moves Fast – Here’s One Way We Keep Up

Remarx Media is a technology public relations shop with a heavy emphasis on harnessing social media for the good of our clients businesses. Our ongoing question is, “how do we stay on top of a medium that changes so fast?”

Our solution is that each of us specialize in knowing as much as we can about one of the big three social networks. Cara owns Twitter like there’s no tomorrow, Bre is a wiz at Facebook, and I am our resident LinkedIn expert. We each are tasked with reading whatever blog, website or publication that will keep us up to date with the latest developments for each network.

My favorite resource for LinkedIn information is the LinkedIn blog. It’s a must read on my Google reader. Some developments of late include:

  • LinkedIn Labs: Here you can use your LinkedIn data to build your resume with Resume Builder, get insights about your network using Signal and visualize your network using InMaps.
  • LinkedIn Skills: Search your network based on their skills to find the best resource for your latest project.

What’s your latest LinkedIn discovery? How has it helped your career?
